Note to readers: Occasionally we receive letters that require an answer. A University of North Florida student sent the following letter:

"I am in my third year at the University of North Florida, and I do not feel as safe as I used to feel.

"Almost every week, students are getting mass e-mails informing them of robberies taking place in the parking lots. There should be more security throughout the campus, especially at night.

"I take the shuttle after my night classes, but when I arrive at the parking lot where my car is, I still have to walk to my car.

"There is no security that I can see, and considering it is a bigger parking lot, one would think that there would be more security there.

"There should be officers patrolling the parking lots in their cars and golf carts, and not just to hand out tickets, but to make sure people get to their cars safely.

"The officers are on duty all the time, so why don't I see them driving around to make sure the campus is safe? …
