Police Briefs; Driver's Hit-Run Rampage Damages 5 Vehicles
The following is a compilation of reports from Beaches-area police departments:
- A 43-year-old Jacksonville man whose Acura SLX struck five cars before crashing in a ditch in the 3900 block of Ponte Vedra Boulevard was arrested Nov. 25 on drunk driving and hit-and-run accident charges.
The man's car struck an Audi in the 400 block of Third Street South about 6:30 p.m., then it hit an Oldsmobile one block to the south, a Mercedes in the 1600 block of Third Street South and a Dodge truck in the 2300 block of Third Street South. Then the car turned onto Ponte Vedra Boulevard and struck a BMW and lost control and went into the ditch.
- Three people were robbed about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday by an armed man wearing a black hoodie over his head at the T-Mobile store at 212 Third St. N.
The robber told two customers to get on the ground and told the employee to give him money from the cash registers. He also demanded money from the safe, but was told the safe was empty and instead took money from the customers' wallets.
-A California man told police that he was robbed about 12:30 a.m. Thursday by three men outside his car at a McDonald's restaurant at 51 Third St. S. He said the men knocked him to the ground, put a gun to the back of his head and took his wallet, bracelet and watch.
- An employee at the Best Western at 305 First St. N. reported Sunday that a man with a semi-automatic handgun and a bandana covering most of his face came into the lobby about 7:15 p. …
