ALDIN GRANGE LAKES (0191) 384 6090 / 07957 831 711 Anglers did well fishing just subsurface despite the cold. Gary Parmley from Ashington landed 25 rainbows for his visit. Willy Jameson landed 21 rainbows and one brown, all to Buzzers. Fly Box: Black Zonker, Black Fritz and Orange Nomad. BELLFLASK (01677) 470 716 The fishery was frozen over from Sunday. Just prior to the big freeze anglers were averaging five fish per visit. Despite big stockings of fish, sport was slower than expected but still very enjoyable. Best fish of the week was a 141b 8oz rainbow caught by regular Bellflask rod Gilbert Harrison on a Black Fritz. Simon Robinson from Whickham also bagged a double of 121b 8oz. Anglers had to contend with flat, calm, freezing conditions. There was a total of seven double-figure fish caught during last week.

There is little chance of fishing before the weekend and anglers should contact the fishery for up-to-date reports.

CAISTRON LAKES 07944 178045 / (01434) 609 725 The lakes are frozen at present. Anglers should contact the fishery when the thaw sets in. CHATTON TROUT FISHERY (01668) 215 226 Anglers did well over the Festive period despite the raw conditions. Jim Tuck from Ashington kept four fish including a nice 7lb 3oz rainbow. Hirst Park Trout Ticklers fished and caught 27 trout. Stuart Hall had 15 fish while Lee Whitehall from Newbigginhad 14 including one of 7lb on a PTN. Gary Parmley from Ashington had eight fish on Buzzer while John Cannon from Warkworth kept five, returning one other on a Diawl Bach. Gareth Tilley from Lanchester had 10 fish on mini-lures. Gordon Swain had six fish including a 7lb brown. Trevor Wadds from Craster had eight fish on Diawl Bach while Matt Devine from Hadston caught nine fish. Top flies were Diawl Bach, Zonkers, Ace of Spades, Montana, Fritz and various nymphs. …
