Police arrested an 18-year-old man this week after a chase through a Northside neighborhood and a struggle that included a Taser strike, according to a police report.

The mother of the man's child, an 18-year-old Northside woman, called police about 3:40 a.m. Tuesday because the man banged on her front door and windows, then kicked in her back door, the report says.

When police arrived in the 2200 block of West 16th Street, the man fled but was located two blocks away by an officer who deployed his Taser when the man didn't stop. The report says punches were exchanged and the man tried to grab the officer's weapon, then kicked him in the groin and ran again.

The officer apprehended the man a short distance away with the help of two other officers.

During the chase, the man dropped 16 plastic bags of marijuana and 22 Ecstacy pills, the report says.

He was arrested on charges of burglary, resisting and battering an officer, and two counts of drug possession/selling controlled substances.
