PEOPLE with learning disabilities are being offered the chance to develop their film and animation skills.

The Haltwhistle Film Project has begun a special course at Newcastle College's Hexham campus, allowing adults with learning disabilities to give free rein to their creativity and further their animation skills within a supportive environment.

The project has run film making and animation workshops and training for both young and old from across the North East and Cumbria for almost ten years.

An important strand of its work has been its large scale projects for people with learning disabilities.

Vicky Jones, director of the film project, said "Our work is extremely popular and this latest course is the result of the many requests we have received from a wide number of people that we have worked with over the last few years.

"We are partnering with Gateway into the Community to run this particular project, and it will be very exciting to be able to use the new facilities at the Hexham site for Newcastle College. …
