HERE'S our guide to events for all the family to enjoy in Tees Valley during half-term next week...

BORDERS at Teesside Shopping Park this weekend is hosting a Valentine's Day Kids Club. The free event starts at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.

LINGFIELD COUNTRYSIDE CENTRE in Coulby Newham is holding a Brilliant Birds event tomorrow. Visitors can have a go at making a bird feeder and birdie crafts from 1-3pm. Costing 50p, places must be booked in advance on 01642 577325.

CREATIVE Eastern-themed events are taking place at the MUSEUM OF HARTLEPOOL during half-term.

On Tuesday enjoy creative China, a free drop-in session where you can find out about an ancient Chinese love story by creating your own story and picture to go on a plate to take home. Sessions at 11am-noon and 2-4pm. On Wednesday have a go at designing your own Chinese identification stamps - called a chop - and create a piece of art to take home. Again, sessions are at 11am-noon and 2-4pm.

HARTLEPOOL ART GALLERY has a trio of special half term events. On Thursday enjoy fire breathing dragons, dramatic masks and work with a local artist to make your own Chinese-inspired crafts. Free but advance booking is required.

Session are 10-11.30am, ages 7-11 and 1.30-3pm, ages 11-14.

On Friday there's a story telling and craft session for the under sevens. Come and make your own paper butterfly and hear the story of Ming's adventures with his paper butterfly. Free, 11am-noon.

HEAD to Middlesbrough's DORMAN MUSEUM on Wednesday when you can have a go at creating your own piece of art - from wool. The Be Wooly event runs from 1-3pm, details on 01642 813781.

THERE'S half-term high jinks planned at THORNABY LIBRARY on Thursday. The craft session runs from 2-4pm and booking is essential on 01642 528150.

DO something for our feathered friends at the Busy Birdies event at COWPEN BEWLEY WOODLAND PARK on Wednesday. Build your own bird box to either leave at the park to be put up by the rangers, or take it home to encourage visitors to your garden.

The event takes place from 10.30am-noon and costs pounds 2.

HEAD to WYNYARD WOODLAND PARK on Tuesday to take part in a Wildlife Fact Finding Mission. The event runs from 1.30-3.30pm. Details on 01740 630011.

CAPTAIN COOK BIRTHPLACE MUSEUM in Middlesbrough is holding a series of half term events.

From tomorrow until next Sunday, take part in the Murder Mystery Trail. Answer the questions as you work your way through the museum, and learn more about the mystery behind Captain Cook's Death.

On Tuesday from 1-3pm there is a free Banner of Lono drop-in session.

Captain Cook was treated as a god when he arrived in the Hawaiian Islands. Learn more about the Hawaiian's symbol for their god Lono, and why the Hawaiians thought Captain Cook was a god. …
