BLYTH Spartans assistant manager Graham Fenton labelled the 2-0 home defeat against fellow relegation battlers Burscough as the lowest point during his time at the club.

A youthful Burscough scored twice in the first half through Craig Davies and Matty Parry to record a shock win and swap places with Blyth, who are now second-bottom.

Blyth have the comfort of games in hand on all their rivals, but Fenton is aware that will count for nothing if performances don't improve.

He said: "We went from bad to worse after we conceded a goal in the first minute, and it's as bad as it has been since Harry Dunn and myself got together five years ago.

"We had a real go at the players and expect a reaction at Fleetwood tomorrow, but one or two have an attitude problem and if they don't knuckle down they won't stay at Blyth.

"We didn't win any of the battles and, while Gareth Williams had a freekick ruled out, we were found wanting by a side with the worst recent form in the league. …
