FOR 10 long years Louise silently nursed the horror of being sexually attacked as a youngster.

She confesses to being such an innocent she didn't even know what was happening when the paedophile struck.

Afterwards Louise was so scared she told no one, not even the big brother who could have helped.

And, through it all, the nightmares never stopped.

At school she became a withdrawn loner who was bullied physically and psychologically.

She tried to find comfort in two abusive relationships, and turned to cocaine and speed.

"He robbed me of a normal life," said the 24-year-old, now happily living with her partner and little girl in Redcar.

"I thought my parents would blame me. I turned to drugs and almost ruined my life because of what he did."

Today, as she waits for 70-year-old serial paedophile Jack Squirrell to be sentenced at Teesside Crown Court for sexually assaulting her and a younger friend, Louise admits feeling relief and revenge.

"I see him now and he's pathetic, pretending he's sick with everything," she said.

"He just sat there in court with headphones behind his barrister and I had to look at him when I gave evidence.

"There was no way he was going to see me cry, but I broke down afterwards and ran from the court."

The first her family knew of the assaults was when police investigating Squirrell's crimes knocked on the door after a complaint from the other victim. Louise broke down and spilled the secret she had kept for so long.

"I did it for my little girl, she was how I got through all this," she said.

"It's one less paedophile on the streets, but I will always be so protective of my daughter."

Bringing Squirrell to justice has been a long and difficult battle for Cleveland Police.

Over the last 10 years he was arrested and convicted of more than 30 child sex offences. …
