City's Run Is over - but the Star Keep on Shining

Article excerpt

DURHAM City's long unbeaten league run, stretching 24 games over seven months, finally came to an end in Yorkshire last night.

UniBond First Division North leaders Durham conceded two first goals at Harrogate RA and, while Steven Richardson pulled one back after the break, they could not save the game.

City remain top, four points and one place ahead of Saturday's second-placed opponents AFC Halifax Town, and manager Lee Collings wants his side to start another run.

He said: "The unbeaten run had to end sometime.

"It was disappointing for it to come against a poor Harrogate side, and we now have to start another one.

"We again conceded an early goal and the second was poor, but we created a boatful of chances.

"We hit the post and had a stonewall penalty turned down and tortured Harrogate without playing well, so to lose the game was hard to take."
