Katsidis Keen to Box Not Brawl against Ramirez

TOOWOOMBA boxer Michael Katsidis believes his days as a brawler are behind him and he is ready to put all of his newfound skills on display against Angel Hugo Ramirez in the Philippines tonight.

Katsidis is renowned for his all-action style, which has won him fans the world over and has made him an attractive proposition for American promoters and television networks. The 28-year-old believes he has learnt a lot from back-to-back losses to greats of the lightweight division Joel Casamayor and Juan Diaz and is ready to put those skills on display against the Argentinean tonight.

"I haven't lost any confidence out of those two losses and if anything they've only made me a better fighter," Katsidis said.

"The days of me coming out like a mad man are over. I'll be going out and using my boxing skills and intelligence.

"One of the toughest fights of my career was against Graham Earl and Ramirez went 12 rounds with him in a fight most people believe he won, so I'm expecting this to be tough. …
