Irish Pubs at Beaches Ready for St. Patrick's Day
Byline: TAMARA McCLARAN
Tuesday is St. Patrick's Day, an annual celebration for everyone to honor their Irish heritage, whether they really have it or not.
Some say it is the most important day of the year for Irish-Americans. Others celebrate the holiday by saying everyone is Irish and no one is a saint.
The Beaches area's Irish pubs are gearing up for the festivities with special menus and entertainment beginning this weekend and continuing through the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
On Monday night, Culhane's Irish Pub in Atlantic Beach is hosting a St. Patrick's Eve party featuring The Dublin City Ramblers, a popular Irish folk band. It's the group's third appearance in six months, and pub co-owner Mary Jane Culhane said the group's show is nearly sold out.
The party continues everywhere on Tuesday. Here is a rundown:
- Culhane's Irish Pub, 967 Atlantic Blvd., Atlantic Beach, opens at 10 a.m.
2 p.m. - Traditional Irish music by Bobby Flynn
5 p.m. - Music by Box 543 with special appearances by Jacksonville Pipes & Drums
9 p.m. - Upbeat Irish rock by Traffic from Limerick, Ireland
