A NUMBER of artists, including musicians, singers and dancers, are to donate their time to perform at two Save the Orchestra concerts being held in support of the Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra, on February 15 and March 1.

However, the artistic generosity doesn't stop there.

Visual artists Antonio Duarte and Pedro (Peter) Mullins, both members of the Royal Queensland Art Society at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, have each donated an original painting to help raise funds for the beleaguered orchestra, which lost more than $18,000 last year when a promoter's cheque didn't clear.

Duarte's work, Symphony, a pastel, is full of movement and rhythm, and shows the dedicated Barry Singh, maestro and artistic director of the Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra, conducting his beloved orchestra, which he founded in 1993.

Portuguese-born Duarte, a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of NSW, is an internationally-known artist based on the Gold Coast.

Award-winning artist 'Pedro' Mullins, of Biggera Waters, studied fine art in London, England. …
