YOU may like to argue the toss, but for me the second worst job in the world is moving house.

What's the worst, you ask? Helping a friend move house.

Every time we move - and we have packed up six times in the past seven years - my wife reminds me that I am a hoarder of the serial kind.

Now if that means hanging on to things that might come in handy sometime in the future I have to plead guilty. I was always amazed by my father who could disappear into the garage and come out with the bolt, screw or piece of wood that was needed for the job he was working on.

Over the years I have been doing my best to build up my own hardware store and that's why my wife has banned me from going by myself to Bunnings or any hardware store.

But while she lets me get away with accumulating garage items, it's my wardrobe she really hates. …
