BUY GAMES WORKSHOP Altium Securities has upgraded High Street games and miniatures shop Games Workshop from hold to buy. It cut the company's rating to a hold on 20 February on the grounds the shares had been outperforming the stock market by 34%, but the bank says that since then the shares have fallen by more than 20%, and reckons that shares in the chain are now worthy of a buy. Altium admits to having some concerns about the longevity of some of the group's stores, but says that the company's "momentum remains positive". It gives Games Workshop a target price of 250p. The shares today gained 33/4p to 1763/4p.

SELL WEIR GROUP Citigroup has Weir Group, the Scottish engineering firm that makes equipment for the oil and mining industry, as a sell. It says there were "no big surprises and no real answers" in Weir's full-year 2008 report, but believes that there are "big question marks" over 2009 and 2010. The bank predicts that 2010 will be a "trough year" for Weir, which this week unveiled a 53% increase in pre-tax profits in 2008. …
