Chasing a Six-Pack; Reardo Looks to Honour Bendalls with Another Win

HE may be in the process of selling his property stake in Yaroomba to complete his relocation to Forster in New South Wales, but Queensland surfing force Dave Reardon-Smith knows where his heart lies.

And that is here on the Sunshine Coast whenever the Pa and Ma Bendall Memorial surf competition is held.

Reardon-Smith is a man on a mission to honour the memory of the local surfing legends by maintaining his mortgage on the title when it is hosted by the Moffat Beach-based Wind an Sea Boardriders Club this weekend.

"I'm really keen to get back there and make it six titles in a row," Reardon-Smith said yesterday from his NSW coastal base where he teaches surfing.

"There is just really something special about that comp that brings out the best in my surfing - I think it's the laidback atmosphere and the fact that everyone is having such a good time."

Reardon-Smith made a name for himself as an aerial extrovert, but is also a multiple QCC champion who can rise to any occasion. …
