Tradesmen Take Up Tools to Create Stirring Symphony

A renewed optimism took hold at the beleaguered Ramada Resort building site in Hervey Bay yesterday as more than 50 sub-contractors made light of the heat.

Tradesmen were more than happy to sweat it out as they put the turbulence and uncertainty of the past few weeks behind them.

To the ears of developer Tim Wright, the noisy cacophony of tools was nothing short of musical.

Administrators were appointed to the project after last month's collapse of main builder MCI Construction, which left a host of sub-contractors facing debts and possible bankruptcy.

Up to 250 creditors, owed a total of $3 million, were identified.

Yesterday, the words "full steam ahead" dominated conversations.

"It's certainly good to see the site's a hive of activity," Mr Wright, Affinity Property Group chairman, said.

"I think the mood back on site is buoyant, very optimistic. We're keen to go, keen to get finished."

Mr Wright said he was excited to be building in Hervey Bay and to be linked to the Ramada brand. …
