POLE vaulters are always headed for a fall - but resilient Beijing Olympics athlete Alana Boyd is slowly dusting herself and aiming high again as the world championships begin to loom large.

Alexandra Headland's Boyd was reduced to tears as her bid to make the Olympic final last year crumbled when the bar came crashing down at her third attempt at 4.4m.

"I was in pretty good form going into the Olympics having just jumped a personal best of 4.56m," Boyd said yesterday after relaunching her career with an Australia Cup win in Brisbane on the weekend.

"My goal was to make the (Olympic) final but I had a pretty poor Olympics meet."

Boyd said her technique let her down, but she believed that major setback could help her make amends at the world championships in Berlin this year.

"I think I learnt a lot from my Olympics experience and the next time I'm in that situation I will do what I have to do make the final."
