Scorecard Scam Warning; Casino Bowling Club Angry Its Name Being Used to Rort Businesses

NORTHERN RIVERS lawn bowlers are warning businesses to be on the lookout for an organised printing racket claiming to represent local clubs.

Individuals, claiming to be printers, had been approaching local businesses on behalf of bowling clubs to obtain money to sponsor bowling scorecards, Casino RSM Bowling Club secretary Keith Sullivan said.

Bowling scorecards are often paid for by local businesses. In return their business details are printed on the card.

It is not known whether the people approaching the businesses are printers, or whether any cards have been printed.

"They are pretending to represent the clubs when they do not; they are not authorised," Mr Sullivan said.

Casino RSM Bowling Club knew of four businesses - a solicitor, a pharmacy, a bus company and a private hospital - which had been approached on its behalf to sponsor the printing of scorecards without the authorisation of the club. …
