REIGNING champions New Marske will be looking to make Boldon feel the backlash after a painful cup KO when the title chase resumes tomorrow.

They had their Monkwearmouth Cup ripped away from them as they slipped to a shock 4-0 home defeat to Jarrow in last week's semi-final showdown just a week after beating the mid-table Tynesiders 3-0 in the league.

And with the League Cup cancelled because of the backlog built up after a woeful winter of washouts, the league title if the only one of last year's trophy treble they can still retain.

New Marske are in second place in the league, six points behind leaders Newton Aycliffe but with three games in hand.

And having won eight out of nine to rapidly close in they have the momentum behind them.

Teesside Athletic are also stepping up the pace as they go looking for the top two finish they need to seal promotion to the Northern League.

The ambitious Redcar-based outfit take on league new boys Kirbymoorside needing a win after losing ground with successive goalless draws against Silks worth and Easington. …
