NEWCASTLE United Women held FA Women's Premier League table-toppers OOH

Lincoln to a goalless draw at Coach Lane.

Newcastle took the game to their opponents early on and were unlucky not to go ahead when a Melanie Reay header was cleared off the line.

Naomi Robson also went close, but she was unable to force the ball home as Lincoln put bodies in the way to block her shots.

As the half wore on, the swirling wind was playing havoc as both sides struggled to produce any real quality play.

Lincoln went close on 38 minutes when former England international Amanda Barr struck a shot from 30 yards which flashed just wide.

Lincoln were also unlucky when they hit the bar from a volley in the closing stages of the first half.

The second period continued in much the same vein as the first.
