Beware! It's a Black Day for Scaredy-Cats; Friday the 13th No Ordinary Day for People with Paraskevidekatria

IF YOU suffer from paraskevidekatria, then beware of black cats, walking under ladders and stepping on cracks in footpaths today.

Fear of Friday the 13th, also known as paraskevidekatria, is one of the most widespread superstitions.

But Michael Wawn, of Lismore, isn't afraid of going about his normal business today, working for Instyle Sleepcentre in Lismore.

"I'm not superstitious," Mr Wawn said.

"I will walk in front of a black cat, under a ladder and I will step on a crack. I think Friday the 13th is just another day, but one that you can have some fun on. You can dress up, scare people and tell ghost stories to family and friends."

Although Mr Wawn isn't afraid of Fridays that fall on the 13th day of the month, he is afraid of watching horror movies, especially on his own.

"I won't watch scary movies," he said.

"I won't leave the room if I've been watching a horror movie - I'm too scared! …
