REID GOSPER is the only student left at Pearce's Creek Public School and by March 9 the remaining staff, including principal Jane Cottee, will be pulled out by the NSW Department of Education.

The five-year-old's mother, Joanna Whitney, of McLeans Ridges, said she was deeply disappointed by the move. She said she had kept her son at the school because she was unable to find another nearby school offering the same teaching expertise offered at Pearce's Creek.

"We have been pushed into this," she said.

While agreeing the DET had held a consultative process with families of students at the school over the last two years, she felt they were lied to.

Also under review and facing staff withdrawals are the Grevillia Public School near Kyogle and the Mallanganee Public School which is already without students.

NSW Department of Education spokesperson Sven Wright said he did not know of other Far North Coast schools under review at this time. …
