Fit Kids Raise Bar at Exercise Boot Camp

A CHILDREN'S fitness program has been so popular another round of Ipswich kids will hit the gym in May to pick up healthy habits.

The Fit Kids program at Goodlife Health Club at Riverlink includes a child-friendly boot camp and aerobics class.

The fitness course was the brainwave of Ipswich personal trainer Sarah Shaw, who had been running it in local schools for the past year.

Ms Shaw said the six-week program started with 15 children and built up to 27.

"It is about starting healthy habits when kids are young and this allows them to feel the educational process of why we're doing the activities while they are having fun," Ms Shaw said.

"It shows them that a healthy life is not a chore."

Ms Shaw said the 45-minute class catered for children aged five to 12.

Marburg resident Lucy Campbell enrolled her two young daughters in Fit Kids and said they looked forward to classes.

"I was looking for an opportunity for the girls to be active and have fun and Fit Kids offered that," Ms Campbell said. …
