TIM Wallace took a career-ending injury followed by redundancy as a hint that he should be taking a completely different view on life.

Now his Middlesbrough photography business is on course to turn in pounds 50,000 profit in its second year.

Tim, who established Ambient Life in 2007, retired from the Royal Marines after suffering a serious fall, which left him unable to walk for weeks.

He picked himself up, launched a new career in project management, working for telecommunications giants Orange in Darlington and NTL, before losing his job as an operations manager for Virgin Teesside following its merger with Telewest.

Undeterred, entrepreneur Tim transformed himself into a self-taught photographer and has proved wrong friends and professionals who told him he wouldn't break even for years.

The business made around pounds 40,000 profits on turnover of pounds 60,000 in year one and has worked with international brands including Aston Martin, Jaguar and Kenwood. …
