A HAPPY snap of baby daughter Emma was the vital telltale sign which warned her parents she was suffering from a deadly eye cancer.

Spotted on a photo by a relative, it showed the little girl had one normal pupil - and one white one.

That alerted experts to the retinoblastoma which was growing in the light sensitive cells of Emma's eye.

She was rushed to Middlesbrough's eye hospital and after years of treatment was given the all-clear as one of the nine out of 10 children who are completely cured of the disease.

But mum and dad Ken and Sharon McGrath still remember the heartache of watching their year-old baby have chemo and radiotherapy.

The memory brought dad-of-two and Tower of London Beefeater Ken McGrath back home to Teesside with a cheque to help other parents with seriously sick kids.

Thanks to the generosity of fellow Yeoman warders, the 47-year-old handed over pounds 500 to Normanby baby hospice Zoe's Place.

The money was collected at their carol service in the Tower of London's chapel. …
