WARWICK Basketball Association president Duncan McKenzie suspects it will be a busy year on the courts this year with a jam-packed calendar of events.

A major aim for the club this year is to win back-to-back titles in the A-grade competition.

"It was a great year in 2008 - the men's Wildcats team won and the under 19 team, also the ladies came runners-up... it would be great to see if they can pull through for another win," McKenzie said.

McKenzie encouraged anyone keen to take up the sport in the coming season to start practising now.

There will be social competition each Friday until the start of the season early next month.

Warwick Basketball Association development officer and former NBA player Mike McDaniel will also begin training juniors in February.

"It will be a great chance for the youngsters to work on their skills as Mike has a great professional knowledge of the game," McKenzie said.

The Warwick Open Challenge Tournament will begin in March where teams from across Queensland will come and compete. …
