CLEAR the lounge room of valuables before you bring home Christmas's most-wanted item as there is sure to be some wild arm swinging going on, says EB Games Warwick manager Kerri-Anne Lee.

"The (Nintendo) Wii is such a craze at the moment because it has so many different functions and it is more physically interactive than other game set ups," Mrs Lee said.

"Wii sport is the most popular game for the console which comes standard with the package; the sports games can be played with either one or two players."

Playing a game of Wii tennis involves using a 20cm wireless controller as the tennis racket, which is called the sensor bar.

The sensor bar can sense how hard the player is swinging to hit the ball and can sense which direction the ball has been hit into the court.

Other sports which can played include bowling, where you go through the whole motion of kneeling down and aiming at the target like players do in reality.

"It's so easy to get carried away playing Wii Sports because you are actually putting in the physical effort to beat your opponent," Mrs Lee said.

Wii Carnival is one of the more popular Wii games bought where the game comes with a long rod which looks like a golf stick and allows competitors to whack their way through different 'side show alley'-style challenges.

If the kids are more into musical games, Guitar Hero might be the way to go.

"Guitar Hero uses a near life-sized guitar where the player is challenged to hit the rights notes by hitting the guitar buttons which the player is prompted to play on screen," Mrs Lee said.

"The higher the skill level the faster and more difficult the music."

Wii has a feature which allows the player to create an onscreen video character to compete in the games as their virtual self.

The player creates their own character by selecting different coloured hair, shaped eyebrows and facial expressions and the height of their virtual character can also be adjusted. …
