LEGAL action by the developer of the troubled Sovereign Downs estate on Warwick's southside may be the only chance a number of local businesses stand of recovering thousands of dollars they are owed for work on the site.

As reported last week, a contractor engaged by estate developer, the Gold Coast based Manassa Group, owes up to half a dozen Warwick firms nearly $200,000 for site works including earthmoving and trench digging.

A spokesman for Brisbane contracting firm Londy Civil Construction declined to comment to the Daily News last week on the arrears, saying there "could be news" within the next fortnight.

But yesterday a spokesman for the Manassa Group confirmed legal action against Londy Civil Construction was being considered which he was hopeful would result in all of the outstanding money being paid out.

"We are talking with our solicitors at this time with the aim of looking at what legal action may be open to us," the spokesman said. …
