Alleged Scots Abuse Victim 'Traumatised'; Accuser and Accused Come Face to Face in Court

A FORMER Scots PGC College student who alleges he was sexually abused by a teacher in the early 1970s came face to face with the man charged with the offences in the Warwick Magistrates Court early yesterday morning.

The 63-year-old former teacher - who, along with any alleged victim, cannot be identified under Queensland law - appeared briefly before the court on four charges involving the indecent treatment of a male.

His defence counsel successfully applied for the matter to be transferred to the Brisbane Magistrates Court where he is expected to enter a plea in relation to the charges on November 3.

He was not required to enter a plea during his Warwick appearance yesterday and was released on bail on his own undertaking.

The ex-teacher is also due to appear in court in Bathurst in New South Wales on November 16 to face similar charges relating to his time at a school in that area.

Outside the Warwick Courthouse yesterday his alleged victim, who travelled from North Queensland to observe yesterday's proceedings, said seeing his alleged abuser in person for the first time in several decades had been "traumatic". …
