THE $10.6 million St Andrew's Cancer Care Centre and St Andrew's Medical Centre building projects went from regional victory to a state win at the 2008 Queensland Master Builders awards last month.

Bernie McGlynn Constructions' Downs and Western Region Project of the Year went on to claim the award for Health Facilities $3million to $12million at the presentation in Brisbane on October 10.

St Andrew's CEO Ray Fairweather congratulated the construction company on their win.

"The walls around the treatment machines are 1600[mm] thick and 3300[mm] high with massive reinforcing bars in them. The ceiling is 2m thick, 12m wide and 27m long.

"The concrete pours were continuous as we could not have any cracks in the walls and ceiling."

Mr Fairweather agreed the bunkers were the feature of the project. …
