Bowlers Achieve Sporting Goals

ON SUNDAY, September 7, Sunset Superbowl was the setting where I experienced my proudest moment in a ten-pin bowling alley.

There is no greater feeling than receiving a gold medal in A-Grade doubles with my Friday morning bowling partner and mate Ben Madden in the State Disability Championships.

I also won a silver medal for "All events B-Grade, men", but the greatest moment was winning that gold.

Of a possible nine events Ben competed in at these championships it was great to share in one of the eight medals he won. Congratulations, Ben, on such a magnificent performance.

For me, this was the end of my aspirations of competing at a higher level but for Ben, with these results, his countless hours of training and participating in various other tournaments throughout the year, paid off with selection in the 2009 State Disability Scratch team training squad.

Joining him in the squad this year for the first time is fellow Garden City Lanes bowler Courtney Bucknell with Judy Mohr representing Sunset Superbowl. …
