Olympian Takes Guest Role

COMPETITORS and spectators will have the chance to rub shoulders with Olympic silver medallist Megan Jones when she makes a guest appearance at this weekend's Toowoomba One-Day Event at Toowoomba Showgrounds.

Jones will be in Toowoomba as a guest judge for the Queensland Young Event Horse of The Year after yesterday giving dressage lessons.

Jones, 31, is one of Australia's top riders nationally and is now beginning to make significant inroads internationally.

She was a member of Australia's eventing team at the recent Beijing Olympic Games where she produced a strong performance to seal a silver medal win for the team.

The South Australian-born rider was also placed fourth in the individual competition where she competed against around 70 of the world's best riders.

Jones - who breeds her own horses - now has her sights set on pursuing a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games. …
