Rangers Send Clear Warning to Rivals

TOOWOOMBA Rangers picked up their Greater Brisbane Baseball League title defence where they left off last season with a stunning 13-0 win against Indians in Brisbane yesterday.

Rangers powered through last year's Division One competition, virtually untested on its way to an undefeated season and a premiership win.

If yesterday's win was anything to go by, the Toowoomba team has quickly established itself as the team to beat this summer, handing out the 13-0 hiding to one of last season's play-off teams.

It ensured many of its rivals' worst fears were realised, in that Toowoomba has not dropped any of its high standards from last summer.

Rangers coach Shane McDuff said he didn't believe Indians played poorly, but they had just run into a red-hot Toowoomba team.

"In some ways the score was probably a little bit flattering, because Indians didn't play badly, but in saying that, if we had picked up our hitting a bit, in all honestly we could have beaten them 15-0 a bit earlier," McDuff said. …
