Bushfire Books Written to Help Injured Wildlife

IT only took a month for Mackay author Rose-Marie Dusting to find a printer and illustrator for her new books.

Ms Dusting, who found international success with her 1979 self-published children's book, The Easter Bilby, is down-to-earth with a passion for helping all animals, great and small.

Last month, the Daily Mercury reported on Ms Dusting's latest crusade to help the wildlife affected by the Victorian bushfires by writing books to raise funds. Now Ms Dusting has found a printer and illustrator for her books. They are willing to donate their time, talent and facilities to publish the book by October this year.

Her books are entitled Sam the Koala, I Love You More Than Chocolate and another she is in the process of writing, Yellow Hats.

Yellow Hats is a story based on the heroic work the firefighters did during the bushfires.

She said the RSCPA would print the novels and Mackay West State School's Year 7 class would illustrate them. …
