POLICE are on the hunt for a man who broke into a school camp site at Currimundi and assaulted four young girls early yesterday morning.

Just after 4am the man entered one of the rooms at the Currimundi Recreation Centre and indecently touched two girls who were there with fellow students from a south Brisbane primary school.

The man then walked into a second room where he touched two more girls and removed the sheets and blankets from their beds, before he stole property from a third room.

The dog squad was used to trace his footprints away from the grounds, where some of the stolen property was located. Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Schmidt said DNA and fingerprint evidence would be used as part of the investigation.

He said more than 15 students were interviewed by police yesterday.

"I think the reality is hitting the children now, at the time I think they probably didn't realise what was happening," he said. …
