UNIQUE decor and homeware pieces help make a house a home.

Sure, there's an abundance of chain stores offering this and that, but usually they are mass-produced items you'll stumble across in your neighbour's or friend's house, too.

At least one Maroochydore business is offering a solution to this interior design problem.

Caz Sparks and Belinda Baker have just opened Decor and More - an interior design warehouse highlighting one-off pieces and many others never before seen in the south-east region.

In order to thrive in the competitive interior design market, the two Sunshine Coast women have literally travelled to the ends of the earth to find the pieces they stock.

They have been introduced to many cultures and survived what can be a very intimidating, male-orientated wholesale industry to source unique, quality furniture and homewares.

Decor and More operates its warehouse on Wises Road, but Caz and Belinda hope the business will flourish into a mostly online shopping experience.

With more and more people going online to shop, prospective clients will be able to view the Decor and More range from the comfort of their own home.

As both Caz and Belinda have young families, they realise how much easier online shopping can be.

"We want to be able to provide quality service and products to our customers without sacrificing time with our families and children, and we know other people feel the same way," Caz said. "We strive to be family friendly."

Belinda and Caz met in August 2007, while both were involved in David Reid Homes and started discussing the interior design market on the Coast.

Through their experience with fitting out and designing the interiors of display homes, they realised the interior design market was missing something.

So, just two weeks later, the two banded together and began planning how to fill that void.

They found many decor and homeware items available locally were overpriced and mass-produced, but knew that when people were looking for things to make their houses homes, they wanted something distinctive and not found everywhere.

Caz and Belinda have travelled around the world, journeying through most of Europe, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Africa, Scotland and many places in between. …
