Wade Set to Get Back on Cloud Nine

SUNSHINE Coast surfer Wade Goodall was on cloud nine - literally - when he won last year's Billabong Cloud 9 Invitational competition and he is back to defend his title.

Goodall has been selected again to compete in the annual surfing competition held on the island jewel of Siargao in the Philippines.

Cloud 9, once nominated as one of the ten best waves in the world, will once set the scene for a tube-riding showdown with an international field of surfers confirmed to compete.

The Moffat Beach surfer beat Gold Coast goofy-footer Nick Vasicek last year in the perfect one-and-a-half to two metre tubes, and said he could not wait to get over there again.

"Cloud 9's tubes were the best waves I have ever had in a contest and just to have the opportunity to go there again is a real treat," Goodall said.

The competition kicks off this Sunday and Goodall, along with fellow Sunshine Coasters Mark Visser and Dave Reardon-Smith, will once again compete against the world's best. …
