A WAITING game is never easy. But for two members of Gladstone's community today it will be a particularly anxious day.

At stake is a seat in the Queensland Parliament with the responsibility of representing the interest of about 30,000 Gladstone region voters.

Liz Cunningham, Gladstone's incumbent, has been there many times.

She says she has never taken for granted her election to the seat since her first win in 1995.

And this time she says job security and creation and infrastructure - both built and social - are her priorities.

She says the electorate needs the Calliope Police Station, the new customer service centre at the city's Department of Transport offices, Kirkwood Road, sporting fields and the dredging of the Boyne River mouth.

"And we should be planning for a larger hospital," she said.

"With the continued expansion of the Rockhampton Hospital, Gladstone is in danger of becoming a health clinic. …
