Volunteers Take Show by Horns; Kyogle Show Features Bull-Riding to Thrill Crowd

KYOGLE'S annual show is on again and this week and organisers are saying the bull-ride will be the main attraction.

Around 75 contestants from all over NSW and Queensland are expected to compete in the man-against-beast event.

"Everyone loves the bull-ride," one of the event organisers, Lorraine Piggott, said.

And while she concedes it could be dangerous, it was a spectacular sport to watch.

Lorraine Piggott's own son, Daniel, 28, who is currently sporting a broken collar bone courtesy of a bull-riding injury, had been competing in bull-riding events since he was just eight years old.

Lorraine said watching him ride bulls was gut wrenching.

"Everyone loves to watch it, except for the mothers," she said.

A small team of 20 volunteers has been working behind the scenes for the past 12 months to put on this year's Kyogle Show, which show secretary Wendy Piggott said was going to be one of the biggest yet. …
