Murwillumbah Youngsters Have Last Laugh

LAST season, Tintenbar-East Ballina humiliated Murwill-umbah in Far North Coast LJ Hooker League cricket, bowling them out for a paltry 35.

The performance was panned by Lismore media and drew some 'smart remarks' from Tintenbar, but on Saturday Murwillumbah had the last laugh.

In an incredible turnaround, Murwillumbah earned a hard-fought win over the 2007-08 finalists and claimed the honours at Kingsford Smith Park South, Ballina, by nine runs.

For Murwillumbah captain Paul Dhillon, the win was sweet revenge and there was no hiding the satisfaction he had after the match.

"They had plenty to say after last season's match and I just think it wasn't a smart thing to do," Dhillon said.

"Usually if you do something like that, it will come back to bite you and that's what happened.

"We have a young side - there are only four of us who are old enough to drink!

"It was a hard-fought win and considering who we were playing, it was very satisfying to have the boot on the other foot. …
