Little Kids a Big Business; Relocation to Billinudgel and a Little Enterprise Tags Partnership with the Right Labels for Future Success

THE two-year mark is a crucial marker for new businesses and one Billinudgel-based business, Western Bloc, decided to get some advice to ensure they were on the right track.

Western Bloc, run by Peta Sollander and partner Damien West, imports and wholesales innovative children's gear and lifestyle products for kids' bed- rooms.

Although they started in Sydney, the couple moved to the Northern Rivers and located their business at Billinudgel one year ago.

The family company boasts upmarket labels including Pooki & Co, Zuny and Ikaboo, stocking more than 500 retailers in Australia and New Zealand. Local stores, including Echidna Place at Bangalow and FunKid in Ballina, stock their range.

"Businesses will live or die over their first one to three years," Ms Sollander said.

"We're two years in and decided it would be great to find a mentor, and the Northern Rivers Business Enterprise Centre's Aub Eardley was the perfect match for us. …
