Speedway

Get down to the Lismore Speedway tonight and catch National speedway champion Todd Doyle racing in the G and W Racing Modified Production Sedan Series. The interstate comp brings together the best drivers from all over NSW and Queensland. Gates open at 3pm and racing starts at 6pm. Tickets $25 adults, $18 concession and kids under 12 with an adult are free.

Fish 'n' Chips

The 49th Festival of the Fish and Chips concludes in Brunswick Heads tonight. More than 100 competitors took part in this week's Woodchop Carnival, which will come to a finale this evening in the arena. The competition will run from 11am to 5.15pm and then from 7pm to 9pm. Highlights will include the State of Origin event and a 'Test' between the Australian and New Zealand women's teams. The Apex, Lions and Rotary carnival committee will have their Housie tent open, which will be staffed by Brunswick Valley Rescue Squad. The kids' carnival will feature dodgem cars, pony rides and side show exhibits.

Theatre

* The Byron Bay Theatre Company presents Roald Dahl's The Twits, at 2pm today at the Byron Bay Community Centre. Tickets are available at Santos Byron Bay and at The Bookstore in Mullumbimby.

* The 2009 Young Opera Workshop Lismore production is Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers. There will be two performances today at 1pm and 7pm at the Uniting Church in Keen Street, Lismore. Tickets available at the door.

* Catch Annie tonight at the Players Theatre in Swift Street, Ballina. Doors open at 7pm and tickets are available at Just Funkin Music in Ballina.

Dance

A country dance will be held tonight at Newrybar Hall from 8pm. The dance is a fundraiser for the hall to enable the installation of disabled toilets and a ramp for wheelchair access as well as general improvements. …
