A Study in Work and Play; Ballina High HSC Student Has Her Fingers Crossed It Will Do the Trick

A HEALTHY combination of study and social life is what Ballina High School Year 12 student Katherine Stapels said was the key to HSC success.

The Tintenbar resident yesterday gave a sigh of relief as she finished her business studies exam, before heading off to have lunch with her friends.

"It went pretty well, not too bad," Katherine said.

"It's kind of strange because you study for two years and then you have your exams and it is all over.

"You've got to balance your social life and study, otherwise you can get too stressed out and overdo it.

"I hang out with my boyfriend. It keeps me sane and grounded."

Katherine, who wants to study economics and Japanese at university, said she tried to balance her studying with activities that helped her relax, like going to the beach.

Similarly, Tintenbar teenager Rachel Foley said it was easy to get stressed by exams.

"There is so much hype leading up to this, and it is all over in three hours," she said. …
