Political Reality Sinks in for Family after Day of Rest

IT was a weary Jarrod Bleijie that answered the phone at 9.45am yesterday.

But the newly-elected member for Kawana was not the most tired person in his house.

"My three-year old is so exhausted she's not out of bed yet," Mr Bleijie said.

"She was on a couple of booths (Saturday) afternoon, we had support t-shirts made up for both the girls, their little legs are worn out today."

It has been a busy few months for the 27-year old solicitor, who started campaigning for state parliament in September while he was still working at Sajen Legal in Maroochydore.

All the hard work proved worth it on Saturday at 8pm, when Mr Bleijie realised he had enough votes to get over the line as the new LNP member.

He said the good news took some time to sink in.

"We stayed up celebrating, we had a good night," He said.

"There were a lot of phone messages and text messages coming in with congratulations. …
