ONE of Ipswich's brightest young rugby talents is looking elsewhere to further his career.

Brassall's Dan Linde won't be pulling on a Queensland jersey in 2009.

After a breakthrough 2008 in which the Queensland Academy player was twice chosen in the Queensland 15 - against Auckland and the Barbarians - Linde was not offered a full Reds contract for next season.

"Obviously it was very disappointing but these things happen," Linde said.

"I enjoyed my time immensely and learned a lot.

"I have made lifelong friends but now it is another chapter.

"There are always other opportunities down the track."

It was his performances for the Queensland 15 that saw Linde named the QT Sports Star of the month for August.

Unfortunately for him, the Reds have plenty of depth at blindside flanker with Hugh McMeniman and Scott Higginbotham ahead of Linde in the pecking order.

In all probability he could have stuck around on another academy contract but the big fella felt it was time for a new challenge.

"I've spoken to my manager and going somewhere else is a better chance," he said.

"We have had talks with the Brumbies and Force.

"If there is nothing there I might look to go overseas. I know some people in Japan so it would be nice to go over there. …
