SHE came, she organised, she conquered.

That is the only way to describe the effort of Margaret Reynolds in presenting the Family Fun Day at Gold Coast Parklands last Sunday.

The secretary of the Breeders, Owners, Trainers and Reinspersons Association is no stranger to the big event concept but this was special.

A crowd in excess of 2000 had a first-hand look at Queensland harness racing from the 2008 stallion line-up to an eight-race TAB meeting, which turned over a healthy $226,000 on UniTab.

Ably assisted by racecallers David Fowler, Chris Barsby and South Australian star Jim Jacques, Margaret did what previous expos have failed to do.

The general public, including many first-timers, rolled up to sample this silks and sulkies business and went away keen to see more.

The woman with the young family, who won the $5000 lucky draw, will be back for sure and so will everyone she talks to for the next 12 months.

Major sponsors Cold Mountain Stud and Terry McDermott got plenty of positive reaction, which translates to smiles all round.

Meanwhile, Margaret Reynolds is already planning for next year.
