Driving Seminar Could Be Lifesaver

NOT many things in life are free, particularly one which has the potential to save lives.

Ipswich Police and emergency service personnel are urging drivers to bring their loved ones to a free attitudinal driving workshop at the Ipswich RSL Services Club at 7pm next Tuesday.

Officer in charge of Ipswich District Traffic Branch Senior Sergeant Troy Hamilton said the workshops were intended to reinforce the safe driving message.

"What we would like to see, with the approach of Christmas, is as many people attending, particularly Year 12 school leavers," Snr Sgt Hamilton said.

"It is timely for people to be reminded of the consequences of bad choices on our roads, particularly in the lead up to the Christmas season."

Snr Sgt Hamilton said the biggest contributor to road crashes was inattention and inexperience.

"Obviously inattention could be a host of things," he said.

"It could be day dreaming, it could be work pressure or kids screaming in the back of the car. …
