IT appears the Noosa Parks Association is adopting a "do as I say", rather than a "do as I do" approach to its lease of the Double Island Point lighthouse.

Copies of Freedom of Information documents given to The Gympie Times are an eye- opening experience.

The so-called "green group" has been caught on numerous occasions bending, if not breaking, the rules of its lease by numerous breaches, including clearing vegetation in a National Park to allow for beach views for the lighthouse cottages and chopping down historically significant trees.

The NPA didn't want input from the Heritage Council because it wasn't included in the lease agreement, but it doesn't seem to have any problems breaching the lease itself.

The hypocrisy is impossible to ignore.

The NPA has been responsible for some positive environmental outcomes in the past, but its actions at the Double Island Point lighthouse can't be commended.

Minster for Sustainability Andrew McNamara continues to support the group's work at the lighthouse despite the findings - a move most would find hard to believe. …
