KILLER STILL BEHIND BARS: Patrick Andrews, accused of killing an emu, remains in custody after the matter was adjourned in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court yesterday. The two charges of animal cruelty and injuring animals were being reviewed for February 2, when the court was told Andrews would plead guilty to one charge of killing an animal with intent to steal. Defence lawyer Ian Pilgrim said detention was "somewhat unfair". "He has taken into account the callous and atrocious act," Mr Pilgrim said.

ESPLANADE PRANG: Motorists are being warned to drive with caution and consider increased traffic flow following a three-car crash on the Esplanade in Hervey Bay yesterday. A car collided with the vehicle in front of it at Scarness. The vehicle in front had slowed down behind a turning car. A police officer at the scene said with the busy holiday period more cars were on the road so it was necessary to pay extra attention.
