Melbourne's Adrian Jackson conquered the world a couple of months ago.

Now he's emerged triumphant after a day of action in Tuan State Forest

The 25-year-old world middle distance mountain bike orienteering champion and Australian number one won two titles on day one of the Australian championships just outside of Maryborough.

Jackson, who won his world title in Poland in August, won the Australian middle distance crown yesterday morning before backing up that winning performance by finishing first in the sprint championships in the afternoon.

Not a bad effort from someone who said they had no choice in getting into the sport of orienteering.

"My parents were into it (orienteering) so I was taken here there and everywhere when I was little - I had no choice," Jackson laughed.

On a more serious note, Jackson said although he was pleased with his success yesterday, he had not been on the top of his game in one of the events.

"I made a few small mistakes on my ride in the morning so that wasn't too good," he said. …
